Yesterday was a long day! Left Cogenhoe at 8.00. Five locks to Northampton accompanied by Moriarty. An American Classic Car meet was taking place at Billing. Lots of large tents and motor homes. Emptied the holding tank (free) at Northampton Town Lock and shopped at Morrisons. Said our cheerios to Bob & Lynn from Moriarty; single locks from Northampton until we got to the Grand Union mainline. Left the Nene just after 1.00PM and travelled up the Northampton Arm to Gayton. The lower sections were very weedy and made slow going. Climbed the 13 locks of the Rothersthorpe flight with Maggie at the helm. Although dark clouds rolled in it thankfully stayed dry. Got to the top of the flight by 6.30PM (including tea and fruit loaf in lock 6). Greeted by Phil of Longboat Engineering at Sandling Wharf who recognised the sound of Albert's engine. Quick chat about Ruston engines. Moored up at Blisworth after 11 hours boating. No rain all day. Today our journey will be a lot shorter!
