Cogenhoe Again

Because we anticipated a long day we left Rushden & Diamonds at 8.30. The first lock was a bit of a shock. Higham Ferrers is the hardest lock on the Nene. Stiff conventional gates, and stiff paddles with over ninety turns to lift and over ninety to lower. The weather was warm but cloudybut later on we got the now customary thunder storms. Very weedy through Wellingborough with a visit down the weedhatch, but we made good progress with our companions Moriaty and moored up at Cogenhoe at 3.00 pm. Excellent moorings by the church. Enjoyed a bottle of red with Bob & Lynn. Tomorrow Northampton and the Rothersthorpe flight.
